White Stringybark (Eucalyptus Globoidea) 100 Seeds
Eucalyptus globoidea
This native tree, known for its distinctive fibrous bark and a sturdy, straight trunk, offers an excellent opportunity to cultivate a resilient and beautiful specimen. Its mature height typically ranges from 15 to 30 meters, making it a prominent feature in the landscape. The leaves are a vibrant green, often with a slightly glossy finish, and provide excellent shade. In late spring to summer, the tree produces clusters of creamy white flowers, which are highly attractive to nectar-feeding birds and insects, contributing to local biodiversity.
It's a popular choice for revegetation projects and can also be a striking feature in a larger garden, providing both aesthetic appeal and ecological benefits.
To sprout these seeds, begin by preparing a well-draining seed-raising mix in trays or pots. Lightly cover the seeds with a thin layer of the mix, no more than a few millimeters deep. Gently water the surface to settle the mix around the seeds. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, ideally using a fine mist sprayer. Germination typically occurs within a few weeks to a couple of months, but can be erratic, so be patient and continue consistent care.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, usually when they have developed their first true leaves, prick them out carefully and transplant them into individual pots. Protect young plants from extreme temperatures, such as frost or intense heat, and strong winds, which can easily damage their delicate stems. As they grow, gradually acclimatize them to outdoor conditions over a period of weeks before planting them in their final position.
Choose a site with good drainage and ample sunlight, as these trees thrive in full sun. Water regularly during dry periods, especially when the trees are young, to encourage strong establishment and a robust root system
