HOW TO GROW SHATAVARI :
Step 1
Soak seeds for 24 hours in water prior to sowing. For optimal germination rates a 20% sulfuric acid solution can be used to soak seeds in (20% sulfuric acid / 80% water)Step 2
Sow seeds 2-3mm deep in seed raising mix. Shatavari needs warm, moist conditions to germinate so a heatmat may be needed if you live in a cooler climate.A greenhouse is ideal, if not a warm location that has filtered sun. Soil must be kept warm at all times - but not wet. Ideal soil temperatures for germination are around 28°C/85°F. Average germination will begin around 1-4 weeks dependent on conditions.Step 4
Keep in pots until after the first winter has passed. Transplant to final position after last frost. A raised garden bed will give more room for the roots to grow. Some people like to provide a trellis if growing to a large size. Once established, will survive cold and will require regular watering. Additional water advised when flowering. The roots are the prized part of the plant. Shatavari takes around 24 months to reach harvest.
