Rosemary is a fragrant perennial herb with woody characteristics and blooms flowers of pink, blue, purple and white during the warmer months.
Native to the Mediterranean, Rosemary grows bushy, upright to 1.5m (5ft) and is widely used in culinary dishes around the world.
Although quite easy to germinate, the seedling itself can be tricky during its youth, as they are often easy to overwater.
Due to Rosemary’s prominence on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey, sprigs of Rosemary is commonly worn on ANZAC and Remembrance Days.

Rosemary has a reputation for improving one’s memory and has been used as a symbol of remembrance during funerals in Europe and Australia. Rosemary was considered sacred to ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks. 
The botanical name used here, Rosmarinus officinalis, was officially changed to Salvia rosmarinus in 2017.
The name Rosemary derives from the Latin for ‘dew’ (ros) and ‘sea’ (marinus) or ‘dew of the sea’.
