Growing Spineless Prickly Pear from Seed
 
Scarify (Optional): Lightly rub seed coats with sandpaper or soak in warm water for 24 hours to help break dormancys.
Sow: Place seeds on top of a well-draining cactus/succulent mix, covering lightly with a thin 3–5 mm layer of sand or fine grit.
Moisture & Heat: Spray lightly with water to damp the soil, cover with clear wrap/dome to keep humidity high, and place in a warm spot (21–28°C) with bright indirect light.
Germination: Germination is slow and uneven, usually taking anywhere from 3 weeks to a few months. Remove the cover once seedlings sprout and allow soil to dry between light waterings.
