Old Tjikko is a Norway Spruce in Sweden that is considered the oldest living tree in the world at around 9550 years.

Every Christmas, Norway’s capital city, Oslo, provides the cities of London, Edinburgh and Washington D.C.  with a Norway spruce as a sign of gratitude for the aid these countries gave during the Second World War.

The tree is the source of spruce beer which was once used to prevent and even cure scurvy.
