Madagascan Jasmine (Stephanotis floribunda) - 5 Seeds
Madagascan Jasmine (Stephanotis floribunda) is an exquisitely beautiful climbing plant, highly prized for its intensely fragrant, waxy white, star-shaped flowers. These elegant blooms appear in clusters, offering a rich, sweet perfume that makes it a favourite for wedding bouquets and indoor enjoyment.
As a vigorous climber, it's perfect for training over trellises, arbours, or as a pot plant indoors, bringing a touch of tropical luxury and enchanting scent to any space.
To prepare Madagascan Jasmine seeds for planting, no specific pre-treatment like scarification or cold stratification is typically required. Fresh seeds generally germinate without these steps. However, soaking the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours prior to planting can help to soften the seed coat and encourage more uniform germination, though this is optional. Sow the seeds about 0.5-1 cm deep in a well-draining seed-raising mix. Madagascan Jasmine thrives in warm conditions, so maintain a consistent temperature between 20-25°C for optimal germination. In cooler climates, it's best to start seeds indoors in a heated propagator or on a heat mat. Keep the soil consistently moist but avoid overwatering. Provide plenty of bright, indirect light. Germination can be variable and may take several weeks to a few months, so patience is key. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, carefully transplant them into individual pots. Provide a climbing support as they grow, and ensure they have a warm, humid environment with bright, indirect light.
