How to Grow Lotus Seeds: A Quick Guide
Growing lotus from a seed is a rewarding process that begins with scarification. Gently file or sand a small spot on the hard seed coat until you see a pale, inner layer. This allows water to penetrate and the seed to sprout. Next, place the scarified seeds in a container of lukewarm water, changing the water daily to prevent mold. In a few days to a couple of weeks, you'll see a sprout emerge. Once the seedling has a few leaves, transplant it into a larger pot with a mix of garden soil and clay, then submerge the pot in a larger container of water. Ensure the lotus receives at least six hours of direct sunlight daily and has a water depth of a few inches above the soil. With proper care, your lotus will grow from a tiny sprout into a magnificent aquatic plant.
