HOW TO GROW CHINESE MAHOGANY :

Step 1

Soak the seeds in cold water for 24 hours. Sow half an inch deep in a small pot filled with basic garden soil. Moisten and leave in warm, sunny position.

OR: It is possible to use a moist paper-towel, with seeds inside a fold and placed into a zip-lock bag and then refrigerated. Keep moist by misting every three days and they can germinate in 1-2 weeks. Once sprouted, transplant into a small pot, keep moist and skip to Step 3.

Step 2

Keep moist by lightly watering every second day and the seeds should germinate in around 3-4 weeks.

Step 3

Transplant seedlings once they become rootbound or reach 15cm in height. Keep in a pot if the plant will be juvenile over winter so that you can keep from frost.

Step 4

Transplant to final position when plant reaches around 50cm high. From here the tree will grow rapidly during warm conditions and will survive severe freezing conditions. Chinese Mahogany can take between 10-25 years to fully mature.
