Black Mulberry Tree Seeds Organic

HOW TO GROW MULBERRIES:

Step 1

Place the seeds into a plastic zip-lock with sandy-like soil.  Write the date and place bag into the fridge for 3 months.

Step 2

After 3 months, sow seeds about 3mm into seed trays of sandy soil.  Moisten and move into full sun position.  Seeds should germinate after 3-4 weeks.

Step 3

Once sprouted, move tray to sunny position.  Transplant seedlings 2 weeks after sprouting to a small-medium pot until after first winter.

Step 4

Transplant to final position after first winter.  Additional water advised when fruiting. Mulberry Trees can take between 7-10 years to begin fruiting.

Height: up to 12 metres

Width: up to 6 metres

Black Mulberries are thought to be native to Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, India, Pakistan, Syria, and Turkey.

The Black Mulberry was imported into Britain in the 17th century to help cultivate silkworms which failed.  Silkworms enjoy White Mulberries instead.

Although the fruit can be messy it is very attractive to wildlife, and can be used to make pies, jams and preserves.
