HOW TO GROW CHILLI :
 
Step 1
WARNING:
Do not touch chilli seeds without wearing gloves. Sow the seeds into a small pot of garden soil. Water and leave in a sunny location.
Step 2
Do not allow seeds to freeze. Keep indoors or a greenhouse if frost. Seeds should germinate after 2-3 weeks.
Step 3
Transplant when plant reaches 15cm high. Use supports to train the stalk.
Step 4
Increase watering once flowers begin. Chillis take 6-10 months to mature.

Bird’s Eye chilli plants are native to Mexico, South and Central America.
Bird’s Eye chillis range from 100 000 to 225 000 on the Scoville heat chart, which is a high strength.
Bird’s Eye chilli is the main ingredient in kochchi, along with scraped coconut, salt and lime juice.
