Banana Passionfruit Seeds Organic .
HOW TO GROW PASSIONFRUIT :
Step 1
Gently rub the seeds on some sand paper or concrete to thin the protective outer shell (scarify) - this will help water penetrate through to the actual seed embryo. Soak seeds in water for 24 hours.
Step 2
Sow seeds onto the surface of a well draining seed starting mix and surface cover lightly with a further 2-3mm of soil. Lightly moisten and keep pot in warm, bright position. Seeds need the soil to be warm in order to germinate. Ideal temperatures of 20-25°C/70-80°F A greenhouse is ideal, if you can not provide these temperatures, you will need to use a heat mat. Seed germination can begin around 4-8 weeks however can take much longer due to their hard shell and if conditions are not ideal.
Step 3
Transplanting can be done once seedlings are 10cm or if necessary once they have 2-3 true leaves and are strong enough. Support vine with bamboo sticks or similar.
Step 4
Move to final position of part or full sun. Be sure to provide something for the vine to grow up. Passionfruit can take between 6-12 months to fruit and favours a warmer climate.
